This article is part of our continuing series about what the Affordable Care Act may mean to you or your business.
Staying ahead of the game has always been a good practice, no matter what the game. In this case, we mean the Affordable Care Act (ACA). As we mentioned in our January newsletter, we will continue to provide useful information in each issue of our newsletter to ensure that you as an individual and you as an employer are prepared for your responsibilities when the Act takes full effect in 2014. For individuals, there's is valuable information at; www.healthcare.gov
For businesses, the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) launched a new Web page on Jan. 28 to help you get ready to comply with the new law. http://www.sba.gov/healthcare
Of most importance this year is the Health Insurance Marketplace. Open enrollment begins October 1, 2013 so that individuals and small businesses have access to affordable, qualified health insurance plans in a competitive marketplace.
On the SBA's site, we would like to call your attention to four key articles, each written for your particular situation:
- Employers with Fewer than 25 Employees
- Employers with Fewer than 50 Employees
- Employers with 50 or More Employees
And finally there is a new blog designed for the SBA to post updates to the law's implementation and for registered businesses to post comments and questions. The blog is called Health Care Business Plus.
