Every entrepreneur has an origin story. Megan Clark has two.
One begins in a Seattle insurance office and the other on the streets of Barcelona, waiting for a bus.
Both are rooted in a passion for having fun.
Act I: Clutch Events
Fresh out of college, Megan landed an admin role at an insurance company in Seattle, but before she could work her way up the ranks, she discovered her true talent. Planning and coordinating incentive trips and business events for the firm.
Soon she was in charge of in-house planning, which she then parlayed into a side business, launching Clutch Events in 2007. Before long, she left the insurance biz to focus on growing her own company.
Today, Clutch Events plans weddings, bar and bat mitzvahs, corporate events, holiday gatherings, or any party where the goal is for guests to have a great time.
Act II: Althea Travel
Megan’s second venture came about due to an adventure.
While in Spain for a travel industry conference, she serendipitously ran into her kindred business spirit, Kylee, while queueing at a bus stop.
The two hit it off straight away, discovering that they shared a mutual vision for the perfect incentive travel concierge service. This vision became Althea Travel.
Proud to be women owned
Aside from the distinctive way their enterprise came to be, Althea Travel’s 100% female ownership team is unique in the travel industry. What’s also unique is that their clients are often treated with having Megan and Kylee tag along around the world as their professional navigators – it just depends on where the group is headed and how much guidance they’ll need.
